Employers have a legal duty of care to protect employees from foreseeable harm. When that duty is breached and the breach directly results in injury or illness, the employer may be held legally liable for the harm caused.
Employers can be held vicariously liable for the acts or omissions of their employees carried out in the course of their work. This means that if an employee’s conduct causes harm while performing their duties, the employer may share legal responsibility for the resulting loss or injury.
Employers have a legal and moral responsibility to develop and maintain clear health, safety, and environmental policies. Effective policy development establishes standards, defines responsibilities, and ensures that risks are managed consistently across the organisation.
